This page is for makers who print small replacement parts such as knobs, clips and brackets. It covers fit, strength, material choice and how to describe a part honestly without overpromising.
Start with low-stress parts: knobs, caps, feet, covers, clips and small brackets. Skip anything where a failure could cause injury or damage, such as load-bearing or safety parts.
Replacement buyers search with a very specific need. A listing that names the exact use and shows a measured drawing earns trust.
Fit decides everything. Ask the buyer for measurements or a photo with a ruler, or print from a part you can handle yourself.
Plan for small tolerances: holes print slightly smaller and pegs slightly larger than designed on many machines. Print a quick test ring or peg and adjust. Offer a fit check before shipping, since a wrong part means an unhappy customer. Label each part with a short code so you can reprint the same item later without guessing.
PLA works for indoor decorative parts. PETG handles more flex and moisture. For parts that need to bend and return, a flexible material is an option, and for demanding mechanical use look at a nylon parts pack.
Be careful with heat. Parts near motors, ovens or sunlit windows can deform, so say what the part is not for. If you are unsure whether a material will last, test it in conditions that match the real use before selling.
State what the part replaces, the measured sizes and the material. Add a line about indoor or outdoor use and a sensible limit on load.
Photograph the part next to the original if the buyer sends one. Offer a color match when possible. Your bundle license allows selling finished prints, which is how small part shops operate, while the digital files must not be passed on. See the small-parts manufacturing page for ideas on batch work.
Be careful. Make parts only from models you are allowed to sell, and never claim any official link to a brand. Describe the part by function and size rather than by a manufacturer’s name, and avoid logos on the print.
Count filament, power, machine time, failed prints, packaging and shipping, then compare with similar listings. Small parts can support a fair price because the buyer needs a quick fix, but never forget to count your time.
Ask for a photo, learn how it failed and consider a stronger material, thicker walls or a different orientation. Keep a short note of each case so you improve the next batch, and answer the buyer politely and quickly.
