What do ready-made supports actually save you?

They save the long job of placing support points by hand, which is the part new resin printers find most tedious. You still need to load the file, check the layout and confirm the part sits well on the plate.

Think of supports as a good draft, not a final answer. Different resins and plates behave differently, so a quick review before the first print is always worth the few minutes.

How do you check supports before you press print?

Open the supported file in your slicer, rotate it, and look for gaps under overhangs. Check that the base is attached to the raft and that thin tips are not floating.

• Look at every lower edge, because unsupported islands cause missing chunks.
• Confirm the model sits flat on the raft, with no part touching the plate directly.
• Run the slicer preview layer by layer on tall or thin parts.
• Print one test copy before committing a full plate.

Batching supported models for customer orders

Place similar-size parts on the same plate so exposure times suit all of them. Leave gaps between parts, as touching supports make removal messy and can damage detail.

If an order includes three different items, print them in one plate where possible, then wash and cure as one group. This keeps delivery times short and cuts the number of cleaning cycles.

Removing supports without wrecking detail

Let the part cool slightly after curing, then pull supports off from the tips inward with small flush cutters. Do not pry at the model surface.

Sand the contact marks lightly, wipe the dust off, and look at the piece under a bright lamp. If a mark remains on a visible face, a small dab of resin cured under light can fill it.

Supported-file questions for M3 owners

Can I change the supports if they look wrong?

Yes. Most slicers let you remove or add support points. If a print failed in one place, add a few more points there and test again. Keep a note of the change so you can reuse it on the next run.

Can I sell the prints I make?

Selling the physical prints is allowed under the licence, in any shop or marketplace. The files stay with you and must not be forwarded, posted or sold on. You can see how this works for sellers in the Etsi3D STL bundle.

Do supports mean fewer failed prints?

They help, but they do not remove all failures. Exposure, resin age, vat film and plate levelling still matter. Treat ready supports as one helpful step in a careful routine.
